PREPARATION OVERVIEW

The bottom line is that the better your items look, the better they will sell and the more money you make! Please take time to make them look as good as possible. Items must be in “Ready to Sell” condition which means freshly cleaned, pressed and on hangers.  We will not accept items with stains, odors, broken zippers, missing buttons, etc. Please save everyone time by pre-screening your clothing for stains or excessive wear. Bring items you’re proud to sell and would consider buying again.

This sale is marketed as “upscale” and will be looking for brand-name clothing and gear only. Our goal is: Maintain the BEST quality sale for sellers and shoppers.

The following guidelines will help you prepare, price and tag your items. We have an online barcoding system which will save you a lot of time.

WHAT YOU CAN SELL

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE SALE
Find a space where you can spread out and spend time working on the project.  Jump right in! Go through closets, drawers, toy boxes, bookshelves and the garage.

Check to make sure items are free of stains and tears and have working zippers, snaps and closures. Make sure toys work (batteries are required). Check your toys and equipment to see if they have been recalled. (www.cpsc.gov)

HOW TO PRICE YOUR ITEMS

There are many factors to consider: condition, original price, brand name of item, original tags, etc.   Generally, items sell for 1/4 to 1/2 of the original price, depending on condition. If it is a name-brand, top-quality item, it could go for as much as 1/2 the original price. Remember, these are USED items. Ask yourself "Would I pay this?" or "Would I buy this again?"

Also, consider the size.  Infant clothing up to size 2T should be priced slightly lower due to higher supply than demand.  Large outside toys and equipment such as high chairs and pack and plays are in high demand and can bring in a better price.  If the item is new with tags, it can typically be priced about 40-50% of the retail price.

HALF-PRICE DAY OPPORTUNITY:
You have the opportunity to price your items at 1/2 off during the final day of the sale (Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9-2 p.m.), if they haven’t sold for full price in the previous two days. Select which items you would like to offer at half price when using the software to create your tags.  Items you do not wish to offer at half price will remain for sale at full price for the duration of the sale.

We HIGHLY suggest offering items at half price because shoppers are looking for a deeply discounted bargain on the final day! Furthermore, you took the time to prepare for the sale and get the items OUT of the house - do you really want to bring them back in if they don’t sell?

HOW TO...

HANG YOUR CLOTES
ALL KIDS CLOTHING MUST BE ON CHILD-SIZE HANGERS OR WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. (Maternity clothing can be on adult hangers)
Hang items with hanger hook pointing to the left.  (Like a ? - see diagram below)
Wrinkled clothes do not sell well. PRESENTATION IS KEY!
Hangers can be purchased as stores such as Walmart and Target or online for less at www.onlyhangers.com. 100 kids hangers for $14!
Use safety pins to pin tags to clothes or hanger. No straight pins please.
Pants - Safety pin them to the hanger hanging straight down. Do not fold them over the hanger
Sets- Hang shirt and safety pin pants to the back of the hanger.
Sets with other accessories (ex. hats, bows, socks, etc.), place in Ziploc bag and safety pin to back of hangs.
Tags should be placed on the right side of the item such as below:

PREPARE SHOES
We accept like-new shoes that are in excellent condition. Please put shoes in a Ziploc bag and secure with clear tape.  Attach the tag to the outside upper corner with clear tape.  If shoes do not fit into a Ziploc bag, please tie them together so they do not get separated. Do not place tape over the barcode on the tag.

PREPARE TOYS, FURNITURE, EQUIPMENT
Make sure all items are VERY CLEAN and working properly.
Battery operated items must have working batteries.
Small parts should be in Ziploc bags, sealed with clear packing tape and securely attached to the main part.  It will not sell if parts get separated.
Puzzles, toys, games, etc. must have all pieces.  Tape game boxes shut.
Do not place tape over the barcode on the tag.

PREPARE BEDDING
Package bedding sets together in original plastic-zippered bag.  If you no longer have this packaging, you can purchase XL-Ziploc bags.  If possible, place a picture of your bedding in the bag.  Attach the tag to the outside upper corner with clear tape. Do not place tape over the barcode on the tag.

PREPARE BLANKETS
Safety pin blankets over the hanger so shoppers can easily see them.  If they are small receiving blankets, we suggest grouping a few together to help them sell better.  Safety pin tags to the upper right corner with the hanger open to the left.

PREPARE LOOSE ITEMS
Bibs, bottles, bows, socks, newborn hats, etc. must be grouped together in Ziploc bags.  Secure with clear packing tape and tape the tag to the outside of the bag. Do not place tape over the barcode on the tag.

We hope these guidelines are helpful to you. Taking the time to follow them will make you more money!

Any questions, just ask. Thanks again for selling with us!
